Do I need special cameras and tripod to shoot the photos for my
PixMaker Scene?
No, you don't need special cameras. All you need is a digital camera
that is capable of taking images at a resolution of at least 640 x 480
pixels. It will be useful to have a tripod but this is not essential.

Can I use photo prints that I have taken with my SLR-based film camera
instead of re-taking them using a digital camera?
You can also use a 35mm film camera, but it will involve a little more
work, as you'll have to first develop the film and then scan the photo
prints into the computer. For best quality, you may want to consider
developing the film into Kodak's PhotoCD format, which is supported by
PixMaker.
